parents. Here is what you can take from the article: Children who have a consistent stable home environment, positive reinforcement, access to good healthcare and education, as well as a range of choices and opportunities, tend to become well adjusted adults, even if the parental unit consists of same sex partners.

You can't measure parents, good or bad, solely by their sexual orientation. No comparison study between gay and non gay parents would be statistically accurate because the number of factors, measurable and not measurable, are simply to great. Also, gay parents will not be the genetic source for the child, so allowing for genetic characteristics per-ordained is an impossible measurement to ascertain.

It's more important that you have loving parents who care about you than what sex they are. These women obviously wanted children very much and probably treat them better because of the opposition they face from society.

i know 2 brothers who were raised by their lesbian mother and her partner. she was married to their father when they were born but he hasn't been in their lives since they were very very young. you'd never know they were raised by a lesbian. they're perfectly normal.

The best parents are the ones that love you.

Online survey huh? How many teens would actually do a face to face interview? These kids are forced to endure this #$%$ because they don't have a choice. Let's see an article about how many of these kids are runaways and rejects. U of Amsterdam? if this was an article on drug potency then maybe it would be beleivable.

Look ... raising children is pretty much a crap shoot. While it is true that two loving, comitted, involved parents, irrespective of gender and sexual stereotypes, are more likely to raise loving, comitted, involved children, there are no guarantees. I know some really screwed up people who came from the "best" of families, and I know some saints who survived upbringings that would curl your hair.

It shouldn't matter what the parents preference is as long as the child is in a loving stable environment.

This is the second study just today that I've seen on this topic. The conclusions in both studies show that: Contraty to the ignorant belief that it is somehow damaging to children, in actuality the parents' sexual orientation has NO negative affect in how "well adjusted" and otherwise, happy and normal the children turn out. In fact, it shows that there are some ways that same-sex parents "as-a group" may even be "better" parents ie: They make the conscious choice to be parents (vs, having unplanned pregnancies), and they are more likely to teach such positive attitudes as diversity, tolerance,acceptance, non-discrimination, etc. It appears that the ONLY thing that negatively affects children of same-sex parents are NOT therir parent's sexuality but rather, the ignorant, stupid, closed-minded attitudes and resulting treatment they may suffer from, at the hands of the self-righteous human garbage that feels entitled to mistreat others who don't believe exactly the same as they themselves do. To my way of thinking then, regardless of their so-called justification, our society would be far better off to be rid of those that advocate hate towards homsexuals or same-sex parents/parenting. Children are FAR BETTER off not being raised by parents that would instill those negatives values in them. Everyone has the right to believe and act as they choose within the law (providing they don't victimize or hurt someone else)..but that goes for EVERYONE. No one has the right to deny or begrudge others the right to live their own life happily as they choose.

Of course same sex parents would be good parents. They can't have children accidentally and have to prepare carefully for them. Children raised by same sex parents are wanted, and many children of hetero parents are unplanned and unwanted.

Okay, so what I'm getting from these hateful comments is that the majority of people are worried that by having homosexual parents, the kids themselves will turn out homosexual, therefore they believe there is a coming of the extinction of the human race....and what I have to say to this is "loololololololol"! Seriously, guys, where do you think the homosexual population of today came from in the first place? That's right, perfectly straight parents, many of them God fearing Christians like yourselves. The people speaking with hate are speaking in ignorance, and it is these people who will end up bringing up the extinction of the human race with that hatred that fuels war and greed, especially since the someone as "powerful" as the Pope is giving sanction to these people. And, honestly people, if you are going to quote the bible and try to make your unsound hatred sound intelligent, at least use proper grammar and spelling. Lol!

Reading these comments are making me so sick! people that use the bible to hate people are the biggest hippocryites! I am a Christian in the sense that I believe Jesus Christ is the son of God. I also think that the bible is mostly a bunch of crap not written by God, but by man who imposes what they think is right. For the people that are saying being Gay is a choice, I ask you.. could you be gay? Really could you let yourself have sex and fall inlove with someone that is the same sex as you if that was what society told you to do. Lets take a straight man and put him in a room and tell him that loving women is wrong and perverted, and that he is going to hell. Would he still be attracted to women even though society is telling him that he is wrong? Being gay is not a choice, its a way of being. As a straight woman, I feel so sorry for people that discover they are gay. Not because its wrong, but because of all the crap that self rightous like to put them through. They have to give up so much, just to live right by their own terms. How can the bible say we have a forgiving God that loves us all, and create these feelings in people and then say oh well your going to hell now? if you are not gay and dont agree with it, then fine, just keep your #$%$ mouth SHUT! and let people live their own lives!

The key word is 'appear', and appearances can be deceiving.

Oh yeah because straight parents are so much better? I'd take these two women as mothers over some of the idiots you see raising children these days... How about the couple who starved their child over video games?

The gender of your parents does not matter any more than the race... Any one who says other wise is just an ignorant schmuck.

Does it ever occur to any of you that it is wrong to hurt and insult people for being different than you. You really ought to know better but you let your overdeveloped sense of self-righteousness pour out ugliness at other people.

Kids are better off being raised by homosexuals than they are evangelicals. At least homosexuals might actually come to Jesus, whereas modern evangelicals want nothing to do with Him.

the gay gene defense is pretty much shot down when they repetively try to recruit straights. after all, they say its a gay gene so they cant be changed straight ... but they never once thought it would have to work the same way with the straight gene not being able to be converted gay ... hmmn.

A good parent is a good parent regardless of sexuality. Not every homosexual parent is perfect, but neither is every heterosexual parent.

I just wish people would just understand that Gay and Lesbian people ARE people too! Homosexuality is just as natural as Heterosexuality! And NO being gay is NOT a choice! And also, why does everyone think of homosexuality as "Perverted"!? How the hell is it perverted? People wouldn't be saying it's perverted if it was two straight people!
