    TeleMetrix+ Answers the Challenge of Managing Chronic Diseases of Our Aged

    myHealth Sentinel has just launched the first fully managed telehealth service in Singapore, TeleMetrix+, to help doctors answer the challenge of managing the surging incidence of Chronic Diseases.

    myHealth Sentinel, an innovative 'tele-health' service provider, has just launched the first fully managed telehealth service in Singapore, TeleMetrix+, to help doctors answer the challenge of managing the surging incidence of Chronic Diseases.

    Singapore Ministry of Health statistics show that one in four Singaporeans over the age of 40 has at least one chronic disease. TeleMetrix+, a cloud-based telehealth service, offers a way for doctors to manage chronic disease patients in the comfort of their own homes.

    Designed as a ‘Software-as-a Service’ (SaaS), TeleMetrix+ supports remote monitoring and tracking of blood pressure, blood glucose, body temperature and weight/BMI. In a typical scenario, patients bring home the monitoring devices provided by their doctor(s). Biometric readings taken by the patients are automatically uploaded over the internet to the TeleMetrix+ cloud-based servers. TeleMetrix+ automatically analyses patient readings for abnormal conditions and generates ‘alerts’ by SMS or email to doctors and/or caregivers, based on pre-defined threshold settings. Then patient’s current and historical biometric readings can easily be viewed over the internet by their doctor or family caregiver using any browser-based device i.e. pc, smart phone, tablet pc.

    “TeleMetrix+ empowers patients and their family caregivers to make better-informed decisions by providing them with timely, accurate data on the state of their personal health”, said Mr William Chew, Managing Director of myHealth Sentinel. “Furthermore TeleMetrix+ encourages patients and family caregivers to take greater responsibility for the maintenance of their own health, resulting in less need for costly hospitalization and specialist treatments”, Mr Chew added.

    The use of Telehealth, as a main stream solution to tackle the rising number of aged patients who suffer from chronic diseases, has been gaining acceptance globally. In recent audited studies, telehealth has been proven to reduce mortality by 45% and emergency hospital admissions by 20% for high risk chronic care patients.

    TeleMetrix+ is now available to patients through selected healthcare providers and general practitioners in Singapore.
