Text Me review

With Text Me you can text people anywhere in the world as well as voice or video call them using credits that you can earn by downloading certain apps or buy within the app. Compared to other communication apps for Android, this one has the advantage of working just as well on tablets as on smartphones.

Pros

Straightforward: Unlike other similar apps that distract you with social features, Text Me stays focused, offering you its essential functionality right from the main window, through which you can easily send an SMS or place a voice or video call. The compact interface makes the contact list and phone dial easily accessible with a tap.

Good voice and video call quality: So long as you have credits, you can use this app to keep in touch with friends and family through voice and video calls, which offer overall a good connection quality and, in our tests at least, few to no disconnects.

Dropbox integration: You can include in your SMS photos or videos stored in your Dropbox account.

Cons

Not really free: To text or place calls with this app you need credits, so that before you know it you may find yourself downloading promoted apps, watching videos, or spending cash in the app's built-in store.

Not ideal for international calls: The cost for calling abroad is one credit/minute, while for text messages, it's five credits/message. Most downloadable apps give you only two to six credits.

Bottom Line

Text Me works well enough, but because of its credit system isn't the most convenient of communication apps, at least not for international calls or for users living outside of the US or Canada. If you don't mind collecting credits, though, this app has a reliable call quality that makes it a worthwhile download.
