Number of passengers traveling through TF Green fell 2 percent in January

WARWICK, R.I. (AP) -- The number of passengers traveling through Rhode Island's main airport fell about 2 percent in January.

Statistics released Thursday show just under 252,000 passengers traveled through T.F. Green Airport last month, down from about 257,500 a year earlier.

People who make round trips are counted twice in the statistics.

Overall, the number of passengers at Green fell about 6 percent in 2012 compared with the previous year. There were more than 3.6 million passengers last year, down from more than 3.8 million in 2011.

Kelly Fredericks was named Wednesday the new president and chief executive of the Rhode Island Airport Corp., which runs Green and five other airports. He is a civil engineer and private pilot from Boca Raton, Fla.
