The One With The Mysterious Friend: Did you ever catch this mistake in ‘Friends’?
On a recent binge watch, a “Friends” fanatic discovered Rachel Green (played by Jennifer Aniston) has a secret - and now nothing will ever be the same again.
Writer Jordan D'Amico, noticed something was off in the season 9 episode “The One with the Mugging.” It’s a tiny mess up, but in a scene in which Joey, Monica and Rachel are having a conversation, Rachel is replaced by a stand-in - or is it the seventh Friend?!
In the scene, Rachel made her way to Monica’s (Courteney Cox) to tell Joey (Matt LeBlanc) that he landed an audition for a role opposite Leonard Hayes (played by Jeff Goldblum). In jest, Monica says she hopes the monkey Hayes used to do commercials with would be at the audition (um, what about Marcel you guys?).
The camera cuts back to Joey – and what should be Aniston’s hair and shoulder in the scene have been replaced with someone else’s. While not completely in frame, the stand in mysterious Friend has a different shirt and totally different hair.

D'Amico notes that it’s obviously an extra or a crew member standing in for Aniston, but now the factuality of the series has been jeopardized.
