The Secret to Getting Dressed in Under 1 Minute

There used to be one option for thoughtless dressing: A dress. It was the only thing that took care of the whole outfit in one fell swoop. But over the past few years the jumpsuit has gone from fringe fashion item to wardrobe staple. A one piece no longer means either dress or snuggie, but includes everything from overalls to a le smoking look. Championed by designers from Stella McCartney to Olivier Rousteing at Balmain, there’s really no occasion for which dressing isn’t made easier with a ready-made outfit on hand.

But how to make the one-piece your own? It all comes down to a few styling tips. Add texture with a suede and/or fringe jacket, pile on the printed accessories—leopard print pumps, tiger striped clutch—or try an off-the-shoulder top for an unexpected twist on this season’s biggest trend. Whatever you do, make sure your waist is defined, either via precise tailoring or a belt. More tips from stylist Chris Kim, above.
