Western Hockey League

Edmonton Oil Kings goaltender Laurent Brossoit had a 0.67 GAA and .971 save percentage in three games en route to being named the CHL Goaltender of the Week. Brossoit, who was taken by the Calgary Flames in the sixth round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, helped Edmonton advance past Kootenay in the first round of the playoffs. JC Lipon scored four goals and registered 10 assists in Kamloops’ six-game victory over Victoria. Lipon had 36 goals and 115 points in 61 regular season games. Nashville Predators prospect Brendan Leipsic was selected as the WHL’s Player of the Week. He scored four goals and registered five assists in three contests. Cam Lanigan posted a 1.00 GAA and .976 save percentage in the Medicine Hat Tigers’ four-game sweep of Saskatoon.

Ontario Hockey League

Mitchell Theoret was selected as the OHL’s Player of the Week. He scored four goals and seven points in just two playoff games to aide Barrie in their first-round sweep of Kingston. Theoret was taken by the New York Islanders with the 185th overall pick in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. Scott Laughton has six goals and 12 points in Oshawa’s five-game victory over Niagara. Laughton also enjoyed a five-game stint with the Philadelphia Flyers this season. Goaltender Malcolm Subban’s Belleville Bulls won a six-game series against Mississauga. Subban has a 1.51 GAA and .944 save percentage in six playoffs contests. Florida Panthers prospect Vincent Trocheck was the difference in Plymouth’s four-game sweep over Sarnia. Trocheck scored five goals and registered seven assists in the series.

Quebec Major Junior Hockey League

Mikhail Grigorenko spent 22 games with the Buffalo Sabres before returning to the Quebec Remparts. That might not be what he had hoped would happen, but the Remparts have to be thrilled to have him right now. Grigorenko has scored three goals and 12 points to lead Quebec past Chicoutimi in the first round of the playoffs. Sven Andrighetto was the star for the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies in the first round. After recording 98 points in 53 regular season games, Andrighetto scored five goals and registered seven assists in five contests to lead the Huskies past Drummondville. Matthew Boudens made sure Drummondville didn’t go down quietly, though. Boudens led Drummondville to their only first-round victory with a four-goal night on March 26. Overall, Boudens had seven goals and 10 points in the playoffs. Netminder Zachary Fucale had a 1.00 GAA and .943 save percentage to lead the Halifax Mooseheads to a four-game sweep of Saint John.

American Hockey League

Anton Lander was named the AHL Player of the Week after scoring four goals and eight points in three games with the Oklahoma City Barons. The Edmonton Oilers recalled Lander after that outburst. At the time of writing, Lander hasn’t appeared in a game with the Oilers since the promotion, but he previously recorded an assist in four games with the Oilers in late January and early February. Twenty-three year old Niklas Svedberg has been selected as the AHL Rookie of the Month. He had a 7-1-0 record, 1.95 GAA, and .933 save percentage in eight games last month. Overall, the Boston Bruins prospect has a 2.26 GAA and .922 save percentage in 43 games with Providence. Twenty-one year old defenseman Sami Vatanen has two goals and five points in his last five games. Vatanen, whom the Ducks took in the fourth round of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft, has eight goals and 43 points in 56 contests with the Norfolk Admirals this season.

National Collegiate Athletic Association

Twenty-two year old forward Josh Jooris came up big for Union College on Saturday by scoring two goals in a 5-1 victory over Boston College. Jooris has 12 goals, 28 points, and 46 penalty minutes in 39 games this season. That victory helped Union advance to the second round of the NCAA Division I Championship. However, Union hit a wall against Quinnipiac University. Tampa Bay Lightning prospect Matthew Peca recorded the fastest hat trick in tournament history, completing it at 12:58 of the first period. Peca also registered an assist to power Quinnipiac to the Frozen Four with a to a 5-1 victory over Union. Quinnipiac will face St. Cloud State after Cory Thorson scored two goals and registered an assist to lead St. Cloud to a 4-1 win over Miami (Ohio). UMass-Lowell has also advanced to the Frozen Four after Winnipeg Jets prospect Connor Hellebuyck earned a 28-save shutout over the University of New Hampshire.
