The Vivo X3 isn’t the slimmest phone out there anymore, Engadget reveals, as Gionee has launched the Elife S5.5, which appears to be the thinnest smartphone money can buy right now. The Android smartphone has a profile of just 5.5mm, slightly smaller than the 5.75mm thickness of the Vivo X3.

In addition to a considerably reduced size, the Elife S5.5 offers some interesting specs even though the device may not be a high-end handset, at least by this year’s standards. The Elife S5.5 will pack a 5-inch display of unknown resolution, a 1.7GHz quad-core processor, 2GB of RAM, a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera, a 5-megapixel front-facing camera and a 2300mAh battery, which is rather large considering the smartphone’s slender frame.

The phone runs an Android-based operating system called Amigo, and it’s available for pre-order in China for around $370, according to Engadget, although the handset is not listed on Gionee’s website. The LTE version will launch in June for an unspecified price, with Gionee expected to bring the handset to 40 international markets later this year, although release dates for these countries aren’t available at this time.
