Three 9/11 10th Anniversary Events in Chicago

The tragic terrorist attacks that occurred on Sept. 11, 2001, took place nearly 10 years ago, and if you're looking to pay your respects to those lost on that day, check out these anniversary events in Chicago.

    * The Chicago Fire Department will be conducting a Memorial Stair Climb on Sept. 10 to pay homage to the FDNY members who heroically gave their lives on Sept. 11, 2001. The Memorial Stair Climb will take place at the Aon Building (200 E. Randolph St.) and will cost a registration fee of $25 per climber, who is encouraged to raise $100 for the cause.

    * The Chicago Field Museum is running a special exhibit, Ground Zero 360, to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the attacks. Ground Zero 360 will run from Sept. 2 through the end of the year at the Field Museum (1400 S. Lake Shore Drive) from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is free with basic museum admission.

    * The Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago will host A Community Service of Commemoration, hosted by the Chicago Sinai Congregation, the Downtown Islamic Center, Fourth Presbyterian Church and Holy Name Cathedral to honor those lost in the attacks. The event will take place on Sept. 11 at 7 p.m. with free admission at the Fourth Presbyterian Church of Chicago (North Michigan Avenue and Delaware Place near the John Hancock Center).

9/11 was a very sad day in America, people lost their loved ones, and their lives. Many of us don't realize how painful this day was, till we actually now, what 9/11 was. Even though this tragic event happened ten years ago, we are still severely wounded by this terrorist attack. But you are not alone, we Americans are here, offering our support and help. Losing someone is not easy, although this was ten years ago, it does not mean you are okay today. To Americans who lost someone on 9/11, you are not alone, remember they will never be forgotten. We will never forget September 11, 2001. It'll be with us, everyday that we live.
