Three cats who recently lost their eyesight are recuperating under the loving attention of two rescue pit bull terriers.

Helen, 7 arrived at Faithful Friends Society, Delaware, with severe glaucoma. Coincidentally, 10-month-old kittens, Bruce and Willis also found refuge at the shelter suffering from infected ulcerated eyes. All three cats were in a great deal of pain and sadly their eyes had to be removed.

Sherry Stewart, a volunteer at Faithful friends, has fostered over 80 animals. She saw the cats weren’t transitioning well and took them in while they adjusted to life without sight.

Sherry lives with two pit bulls Alfie, 9 and Frankie, 4. Both dogs were rescued from cruelty and starvation and now help Sherry with the foster animals that come to stay in their home. Alfie is even a certified therapy dog, visiting children in hospitals and schools.

Both dogs recognised the cats were unwell and acted like surrogate mums licking the kitties, napping with them and giving them extra TLC.

Thanks to the nurturing love of Alfie and Frankie and a safe home environment provided by Sherry, Helen, Bruce and Willis have made great progress and are now ready to find their forever homes.
