The Apple boss signed up for Twitter on the day that the iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c were released around the world to record lines and much enthusiasm. Cook's first tweet:
Visited Retail Stores in Palo Alto today. Seeing so many happy customers reminds us of why we do what we do.

Cook was seen at the Apple store in Palo Alto by many, a store that Steve Jobs also visited on an iPhone launch day in the past. You can see footage of Cook at the Palo Alto Apple store below:
Though Cook's follower count shot up by the thousands after his first tweet was retweeted by fellow Apple exec Phil Schiller, Cook is only following a select 11 accounts. As of press time, these included comedian Jimmy Fallon; Apple executives Schiller and Eddy Cue; newsmen Anderson Cooper and Thomas Friedman; Laurene Jobs, the widow of former Apple CEO Steve Jobs; rock band Kings of Leon; and his old student newspaper, the Auburn Plainsman.
Cook's identity was verified by Twitter later in the day.
