Time names Trump person of the year and Twitter has a lot to say
No matter how hard you try to ignore Donald Trump, he just won't go away.
On Wednesday, Time magazine announced Donald Trump as its "Person of the Year." On the cover, Time wrote that he'd become president of the "divided states of America." Twitter couldn't agree more.

While some Trump supporters greeted the announcement with joy, others noted that the editorial was highly critical of him and the type of damage he's already caused. NeverTrumpers and Clinton supporters noted that Hitler and Putin had both received the award before and that this was no honor.
At a loss for words (or for words that constituted more than 140 characters), Twitter responded with jokes, GIFs and outrage.
Amusing how conservatives in my timeline bash the mainstream media ... until Trump gets TIME's Person of the Year. Then they gloat about it.

Trump deserves to be Time Person of the Year 2016, because if this dumpster fire of a year needed human representation, he's it.

This is the second time Donald Trump is winning something when somebody else got more votes. https://t.co/8KfsPgS2ia

Trump wins Time Person of The Year though Democrats insist Clinton won on the popular vote.

Imagine how mad online people would have been if Twitter had been around when TIME magazine declared Hitler its Person of the Year in 1938.

Time Magazine made Trump its person of the year because they know he'll buy 500,000 copies.

Donald Trump is TIME's Person of the Year in 2016. So don't be surprised when the 2017 award goes to the American protester.

Hard to argue w/@TIME's selection of PEOTUS Trump as POTY. He defied political gravity. He beat the odds. Divided and conquered. He won.

Donald Trump was named TIME magazine person of the year.
Not a great year to be a person.— Morgan Turner (@themorganturner) December 7, 2016
