‘Today’ Beats ‘Good Morning America’ In News Demo By 28K Viewers

NBC’s Today won the week of April 20, beating its closest morning infotainment show rival, ABC’s Good Morning America by 28,000 news-demo viewers.

That’s Today’s biggest adults 25-54 victory over GMA since the second week of the Sochi Olympics in 2014. Of 31 weeks this TV season to date, GMA has won 29 in the demo so far. The last time GMA lost to Today in the demo was back in December, during Christmas week, when it lost by just 1,000 viewers. But Today has won six of the last 10 mornings in the demo. On Wednesday of last week, Today topped GMA by 174,000 news-demo viewers, marking its biggest single day demo win since September 5, 2014.

For the week, Today scored 1.793 million news demo viewers, to GMA’s 1.765 million; CBS This Morning clocked 1.057 million.

Today also logged its largest total viewer audience in seven weeks, and gained 69,000 viewers, week-to-week, though it finished behind GMA’s 5.083 million viewers, with 4.809 million in its corner. CBS This Morning averaged 3.724 million viewers aged 2 and up.
