Today’s your last chance to get a NES Classic

The NES Classic edition is such a surprise hit — and such a perfect Christmas present — that it’s sold out country-wide. One of the only reliable ways to get it for list price is via Walmart’s flash sale, which has seen a tiny amount of stock put up for sale at 5PM Eastern Time.

Today is the last day that Walmart’s promised to sell the NES Classic, so it’s also the last day that we’re guaranteed to have any stock available. With Nintendo trying to deal with unprecedented demand, this could be your last chance to get a NES Classic at the normal price.

DON’T MISS: NES Classic Edition review: A box of nostalgia

The console should be $60 in stores, which is what Walmart has been selling it for. Your only other real option is to head to eBay, where exactly the same console has been going for upwards of $200.

Walmart will have its sale today, but also told BGR that it’s hoping to have enough stock in to do the same thing on Monday and Tuesday, so if you miss out today, all is not lost.

The flash sale will happen today at 5PM ET, right at this link. You’ll have to be fast, as previous salessold out in minutes. To get your hands on the console, you’ll probably want to pre-create a Walmart account and enter your information, make sure you’re logged in, and start hitting refresh. (You can also download Chrome extensions to auto-refresh your page every couple of seconds, if you’re feeling lucky.) Experience gained buying concert tickets also tells me that having a couple different devices ready to go will also be helpful.

The NES Classic is a $60 miniature version of the original Nintendo Entertainment System. It can’t take the old game cartridges, it doesn’t have any fancy online features, and it won’t do strange VR things for you. What it will do, however, is play 30 classic games, all pre-loaded and included with the $60 pricetag, including Super Mario Bros. 3, Castlevania, Mega Man 2, Metroid and Donkey Kong.

In our review, we said that”the NES Classic Edition isn’t a perfect product, but it is a smart, affordable, attractive device that blows all of those other retro consoles you’ve seen lining store shelves at Target and Walmart out of the water. If you’re looking for a great gift for a gamer in your life (or a holiday treat for yourself), look no further.”
