Tom Cruise in New 'Jack Reacher' Trailer: I Am Not a Hero


A new trailer for Jack Reacher gives us an extended look at director Christopher McQuarrie's cinematic adaptation of Lee Child's 2005 mystery novel One Shot.

Tom Cruise plays the title character, whose demeanor in the trailer comes off darker than his previous movie personas. "Do you think I'm a hero? I am not a hero," Reacher asserts in one scene.

In Jack Reacher, Cruise's character tries to prove a man in custody -- for allegedly firing six bullets that killed five people -- was framed. The trailer introduces veteran filmmaker Werner Herzog, who recently directed a concert live stream for The Killers, as a villain.

The film's first teaser trailer arrived July 3 -- Cruise's 50th birthday. Jack Reacher hits theaters Dec. 21.
