The Toolbox website has always been extremely tactile and user friendly, however, changes have been made to the site in order to make it even more user friendly and practical. Toolbox believe this will help attract customers and make it even easier to find the item they want on the Toolbox website; http://www.toolbox.co.uk

Despite being quite young, Toolbox is already competing with the online ‘top dogs’ who have been established for a long time. Given the time that they’ve been operating, Toolbox look set to be the #1 go-to tool retailer in years to come.
At current, they have just refined their website which apparently makes browsing, searching and navigating the website even easier for users/potential customers. Strangely enough, their website was extremely user friendly before hand, so it’s intriguing to see what they’ve done to better themselves this time around.
Scott Morris, Marketing Manager at Toolbox explains a few of the changes they have employed on the website: “Put quite simply, we have broken groups with a large amount of products down into sub-groups. The reason for this is obvious; would you rather waste your time scrolling through 3-4 pages looking for the item you want? Or, have those broken down into 4 sub-groups which give you a finer choice of product, resulting in less pages to search through. The result of this refinement is getting the user to their ideal product quicker, time is important in life and if we can save a person a few minutes, that’s extremely worthwhile.” Scott then went on to clarify this point with an example; “Take for example a group of angle grinders, there may be 5 pages of them; we would take this, split it down into power/voltage output and accessories, then if it required splitting down further, we would do it by li-ion/ni-cad, manufacturer, or amount of batteries included. Basically, we choose the groups based on what people are most likely to search by and employ that strategy on the website.”
James Cook, Web Admin at Toolbox commented on these changes also; “It takes us a good part of an hour to refine individual groups and amend descriptions, but it’s worth it as the group becomes extremely functional and usable which is the main goal. We know we can’t cater to everyone’s specific search requirements, but we attempt to do a good job for the majority and for those that don’t like the taxonomy, we have a search function to find their perfect product with minimal effort!”
Toolbox is the sister company of the ever expanding Plumbworld empire. Plumbworld was an early pioneer of online trading, started by James and Anita Hickman in 1999 and was sold to the Grafton Group PLC in December 2006, Plumbworld now employs more than 50 people in its purpose built warehouse and offices and boasts an astonishing 50+ websites selling everything from a bathroom and pillar drills to a multifuel stove and barbecues. The business has a turnover in excess of £18 million and is growing at more than 20% year on year.
