‘Top Gear’ Confirms Hosts Set To Join Chris Evans, Matt LeBlanc For BBC Reboot

After putting Matt LeBlanc in one of the driver’s seats last week as co-host of the BBC’s new Top Gear, the broadcaster has filled out the rest of the roster. Chris Evans and LeBlanc will be joined by Motorsport guru and Formula 1 commentator Eddie Jordan; world record-breaking German racing driver Sabine Schmitz; motoring journalist and YouTube petrolhead Chris Harris; and car reviewer and TV presenter Rory Reid.

The new team will cover the entire automotive spectrum; each bringing their own individual love of cars. Several of the names were previously mooted, with BBC Worldwide and BBC America confirming today.

Jordan is a Dublin-born entrepreneur and owner of the former Jordan Grand Prix team which gave many of the world’s most iconic drivers their starts including Michael Schumacher and Eddie Irvine.

Schmitz is the show’s first female host in 15 years. She previously appeared in Seasons 5 and 11. Harris, who hosts YouTube channel, Chris Harris on Cars, says he’s coming prepared to cause mischief. Newcomer Reid was recruited to Top Gear from the show’s 2015 public auditions. He launched and has hosted CNET’s Car Tech channel, and also had a starring role in Sky 1’s Gadget Geeks series.

They join LeBlanc, who was revealed as co-host last week and is the first non-British host in Top Gear history, and Evans who was set as Jeremy Clarkson’s replacement last June. Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May exited as hosts last year following a physical altercation between Clarkson and a producer. That trio has landed at Amazon with a new show to begin this year. Top Gear returns to BBC Two and BBC America in May.
