Apple to wrap Beats Music into iOS next year
When Apple acquired Beats Audio this year, the question of what it would do with the Beats Music streaming audio service was quick to surface. That question appears to be answered with a report that claims Beats Music will be incorporated into iOS next year.
According to the report the service will remain paid only, unlike the competition that tends to offer free and paid levels of audio streaming.

Apple fined millions over pager patents
A jury in the US district court found Apple had infringed on old pager patents. A fine of $23.6 million was levied for the patent violations.
The fine is a fraction of the original $237.2 million the complainant, Mtel, had requested.

IBM and Apple, sitting in a tree
ZDNet's Zack Whittaker has a good take on the IBM and Apple alliance designed to get more of the latter's gear into the enterprise. Whittaker's point that both companies might learn to be more flexible than in the past is a valid one.

iOS 8.1.1 released
An update for iOS 8 hit this week, and in addition to bug fixes Apple promised some nice improvements. Version 8.1.1 is intended to address the range of problems caused by iOS 8.0, but it's too early to tell if that is the case.
Apple stated that the latest version of iOS is supposed to give performance a boost on some devices and yield better battery life.
