Woman named chief of NASA’s astronaut office has ties to Denison

Peggy Whitson, niece of Les Rauch of Denison and the late Cela Rauch, became the chief of astronaut office, the most senior astronaut position at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in October. She became the first woman to hold the position and the first chief who does not have military background.
