MOBILE, Ala. -- Hurricane Ida chugged toward the Gulf Coast, with warnings extending more than 200 miles across several states, but the hurricane weakened early today to a Category 1 storm, with winds having decreased to near 80 mph.
The storm has weakened to 80 mph as it heads north. A hurricane warning currently extends from Pascagoula, Mississippi east to Indian Pass, Florida.
