The IOC says two sports have agreed in principle to a venue change for the 2012 London Olympics. London organizers have proposed moving badminton and rhythmic gymnastics to Wembley Arena in north London rather than build a temporary venue near the Olympic Park in east London. Scrapping the temporary venue would save organizers about $33 million.

Sochi, the Russian city that will host the 2014 Winter Olympics, has been chosen as the venue for an international peace and sport conference in 2012. The decision was announced Wednesday at the opening in Monaco of the 2009 Peace and Sports International Forum, whose patron is Prince Albert.
