OLYMPIA, Wash. (AP) -- Washington state residents were voting Tuesday whether to approve the state's new “everything but marriage” law or to roll back more than 200 rights and benefits granted to thousands of gay and senior couples.
Formed in 1867, the National Grange is the nation's oldest agricultural organization with 300,000 members and 3,600 local organizations in 37 states. Pennsylvania, with 12,000 members, is second nationally only to Washington state in Grange membership, according to Pennsylvania Grange president Betsy E. Huber.
The measure asked voters to approve or reject the latest expansion of the state's domestic partnership law, granting registered domestic partners additional state rights previously given only to married couples.
