Tornado touches down in northwest Louisiana

PLAIN DEALING, La. (AP) — The National Weather Service says one person suffered minor injuries and a home sustained heavy damage when a tornado touched down in northwest Louisiana.

Bill Davis, a spokesman for the Bossier Parish Sheriff's Office, says the tornado hit around 3:15 a.m. Monday about six miles west of Plain Dealing in mostly a rural area.

Davis says a teenager suffered minor cuts and bruises and his home was heavily damage. Several other people in the home were not injured.

He says the power is out and deputies were going home to home checking on other damage.
