Tough Love: Ryan Reynolds’ Daughter Was ‘So Not Impressed’ By His Super Bowl Commercial

While the Internet was swooning over Hyundai’s fictional Ryanville, at least one viewer wasn’t so interested in a town filled with PEOPLE’s cover star and Sexiest Dad Alive.

Reynolds said his daughter James, 13 months, was able to pick out her dad in his 2016 Super Bowl commercial last weekend.

“It was really weird, we were watching the Super Bowl and my daughter saw it,” Reynolds told Today Wednesday. “And she totally recognized me. There was like 12 of me, which, to her was like, 24 useless boobs. She was so not impressed.”

The Deadpool star, who shares James with wife Blake Lively, said that being a dad has “been amazing” — despite his constant travels to promote the new action movie.

“It’s great. I had one of those rare mornings where my daughter just didn’t want me to leave — and that was only because my wife was asleep,” he joked. “But it was like, you didn’t wanna go, it kills me.”

Reynolds, 39, told Today that he even loves “the dirty work” of fatherhood, explaining, “I love getting up in the middle of the night and I’m fine with all of that.”

The actor is also loving being surrounded by women, as he tells PEOPLE in this week’s new issue. As the youngest of four boys, Reynolds says that “having a daughter was a dream come true.”

“I never admitted it out loud, to myself or my wife, but I really wanted a little girl,” he says. “It’s the best.”

And it’s slowly become clear who now rules the roost: “I don’t have to prepare to be wrapped around my daughter’s finger,” he says. “I have been wrapped around her little finger since the day she plopped out into this world.”
