Tow truck crashes into California medical clinic

FRESNO, Calif. (AP) — Authorities say seven people were hurt when a tow truck carrying a car on its bed crashed into the waiting room of a Fresno, Calif., medical clinic.

The Fresno Bee reports (http://bit.ly/1n8qeMg) a pickup collided with the tow truck on Monday, sending the larger vehicle careening into the building.

The pickup crashed into a light pole.

California Highway Patrol Capt. Dave Paris says five people inside Clinton Medical Clinic were hospitalized with minor to moderate injuries.

He says they're "lucky to be alive."

Paris says both drivers were injured, one more seriously, but he didn't have additional information.

Officials say initial reports suggest the pickup driver ran a red light.

City workers were called in to steady the light pole before the truck was pulled from the building.
