    Townsend Security’s Enhanced Secure Managed File Transfer Solution, Alliance FTP Manager, Now Provides Robust PGP Encryption Options

    Alliance FTP Manager 5.30 for the IBM i simplifies ease of use and features a set of comprehensive PGP encryption solutions, automates secure file transfers, and provides detailed logging for compliance.

    Townsend Security, a leading authority in data privacy, announces a major update to its managed file transfer software Alliance FTP Manager. Notable new features of Alliance FTP Manager 5.30 include a new set of PGP encryption options designed to scale to your organization, enhanced reporting capabilities allowing faster drill down and better pattern isolation, as well as support for pre-file transfer Secure Shell sFTP and FTP scans. FTP Manager 5.30 also includes improvements to file scan functionality and performance.

    In addition to its traditional offering of PGP’s commercial product from Symantec, FTP Manager 5.30 now contains an affordable Open PGP option suitable for IBM i shops that need to implement PGP encryption quickly. Enterprise customers who require a more robust PGP encryption solution can opt for PGP Command Line product (Commercial PGP) and securely encrypt data with a solution based on FIPS-140 certification that includes access to the original PGP development team and extended technical support from Symantec’s PGP team.

    Management capabilities of FTP Manager were enhanced in version 5.30 providing administrators with an easier way to review file transfers at their source or destination. Customer requests for file transfer options such as “last used date” have been incorporated into the product, making it easier to isolate the last time a file was transferred. In FTP Manager 5.30, administrators are able to apply more filters to their search criteria and sort through information quickly to satisfy compliance requirements.

    Another new feature of FTP Manager 5.30 is that it helps automate, secure, and simplify tasks associated with managed file transfers. Whether your company transfers hundreds or thousands of files daily you will benefit from many of these other improvements in usability:


    • The Secure Shell sFTP API program can now handle PGP encryption within a sFTP transfer session.

    • The directory scan will now allow multiple scans to run simultaneously without interference.

    • The library scan facility has been enhanced to allow more options in the event a file cannot be moved from a scan library to a backup library.

    • New email notifications to the library scan facility if an unmonitored exception occurs in the job.

    • The maximum number of files received on an sFTP directory scan operation has been increased from 100 to 1,000.

    • The Implicit SSL FTP support has been enhanced to support standard SSL FTP Protection Buffer Size (PBSZ) and Protection (PROT) commands.
