Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro: Probably All the Off-Road Truck You Need

From Road & Track

When we first drove the new Toyota Tacoma back in August, we were impressed with its off-roading ability, especially in TRD Off-Road form. It was clearly built to handle going far off the beaten path, and we appreciated that. Apparently Toyota wasn't ready to stop there, because it's just announced an even more capable version, the Tacoma TRD Pro.

Based on the double cab, short bed version of the Tacoma TRD Off-Road, the TRD Pro gets a cosmetic hood scoop and a few other surface-level changes, but functional changes abound.

You get a one-inch lift, 16-inch black alloy wheels wearing Goodyear Wrangler All-Terrain Kevlar-reinforced tires, an aluminum front skid plate, FOX 2.5 Internal Bypass shocks, and new front coil and rear leaf springs. The TRD Pro also gets a locking rear differential, as well as all the other off-roading goodies included in the TRD Off-Road like Crawl Control and Multi-terrain Select.

Thankfully, Toyota will let you order the TRD Pro with a manual or automatic transmission. Unfortunately, you have to give up Crawl Control and Multi-terrain Select if you want the stick.

Oh, and don't worry. The GoPro mount is still included, so there's no need to worry about that.
