Tractor-trailer fire shuts down Route 17 south in Bergen County

A truck fire on Route 17 caused a disruption to the Monday morning commute, shutting down the southbound side.

The road was closed for more than an hour, according to 511NJ traffic maps. The tractor-trailer's cab caught fire near an Acura dealership in Rochelle Park, north of Route 80 and south of Becker Avenue. Beyond that, there was traffic through Paramus.

Firefighters went to work on the truck and contained the fire before 10 a.m., the cab charred from the flames.

The New Jersey Department of Transportation advised drivers to follow a detour or plan a different route.
