Tractor-trailer fire shuts down portion of Route 58 in Suffolk

A tractor-trailer fire shut down a portion of US-58 Wednesday in Suffolk.

The fire happened around 2:30 p.m. near the westbound direction of Portsmouth Boulevard at the city line, according to a news release. No injuries were reported.

Suffolk and Chesapeake firefighters responded to the scene along with police.

Officials did not release information about the fire’s cause.

As of 4 p.m., one lane remained closed to traffic to remove debris off the roadway. Drivers should expect detours in the area.

The investigation is ongoing.
