CHICAGO (AP) — Filming in Illinois of "Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon" brought about $24 million in spending to the state.

The Illinois Film Office also said Wednesday that the production provided 400 jobs in addition to extras. The movie was filmed in parts of Chicago, including along Michigan Avenue, for 30 days last summer.

State numbers show the film industry brought a record $161 million in spending to Illinois in 2010. Illinois offers a tax credit of 30 percent to filmmakers.

Distributor Paramount Pictures says "Transformers: Dark of the Moon" launched with $13.5 million domestically Tuesday night and Wednesday morning.

Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity director Warren Ribley says the film industry "will continue to be an important part of our efforts to create jobs and spur economic growth."
