The food items will be hand-delivered the same day they are baked to guarantee freshness and quality.

    Before, it was customary to send flowers or gift baskets to congratulate someone or to wish someone well. The same thing cannot be said of baked goods like brownies and cookies. In the past, delivered baked goods either had preservatives or lost their freshness, and finding a local bakery that delivered was a hassle.

    Many people appreciate baked goods more than they do flowers or gift baskets and Treatsa is trying to capitalize on this. The company believes that the initial launch city will prove the concept and it will show that people love to send cookies as a gift in Los Angeles instead of sending flowers.

    "It totally makes sense," said Adam Corey, founder of Treatsa, Inc. "Fresh flowers and gift baskets are delivered all the time, so why not baked goods like cakes, pies, cookies, or brownies? The demand is just the same, if not more. Lots of people love receiving freshly baked goods more than they do flowers. I realized this when I was in the hospital with a broken arm, surrounded by flowers."

    To guarantee the baked goods are high quality and delivered the same day they are baked, Treatsa has partnered with various local, artisan bakeries nationwide. Treatsa.com's unique gift service is currently available only in Los Angeles, but the company plans to expand to other locations across the United States within the next few months.

    "We are really excited about this," said Adam Corey. "With our website, people can send treats like cookies or brownies to friends and family in different parts of the country and some will even get them while they are still warm."
