Truck driver dies after suspected ‘medical episode,’ FHP says

A truck driver suddenly passed away Saturday afternoon while driving on State Road 528 in Orange County, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

At around 3:45 p.m., FHP troopers responded to the highway’s eastbound lanes near the State Road 417 exit, where a 43-year-old Melbourne man driving a 2020 International Box Truck left the road and crashed into a light pole, a report released by Lt. Kim Montes said.

The victim, whose name has not been released, “may have suffered a medical episode prior to the crash,” the report said.

He was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
