True Detective: The First Images From Season 2 Have Arrived, With a Sweet Mustache in Tow (PHOTOS)

It's been over a year since HBO's True Detective debuted and introduced all of us to the rambling philosophies of Matthew McConaughey's Rust Cohle, but after months and months of Season 2 casting rumors and announcements, production on the series' sophomore season is finally underway in California... and we've got the pictures to prove it!

Three set photos featuring Season 2 stars Colin Farrell and Taylor Kitsch have made their way to Twitter, and if you've been wondering whether either of them will be sporting a mustache to rival the one Cohle had going in 2014, you now have your answer:

*whistles* That is a thing of beauty, Farrell. A thing. Of. Beauty. And Taylor Kitsch is looking pretty nice, too! The pictures don't give away much, but one thing is certain: We're definitely not in the swamps of Louisiana anymore.

Set in California, True Detective Season 2 will follow three police officers and a career criminal as they navigate a web of conspiracy in the aftermath of a murder. Farrell plays conflicted cop Ray Velcoro, whose allegiances are torn between the corrupt police department and the mobster—Vince Vaughn's Frank Semyon—who "owns" him. Meanwhile, Kitsch plays war veteran and police officer Paul Woodrugh, who works for the California Highway Patrol and is running from both his troubled past and "the sudden glare of a scandal that never happened." Rachel McAdams also stars, as a no-nonsense detective named Ani Bezzerides.

What do you think of Farrell's new 'stash? Are you excited for True Detective Season 2?
