Speaking at a F.ounders event today Tumblr CEO David Karp announced that the company will be releasing an iOS app next week.
Following in the footsteps of its current Android app, the Tumblr iOS app will offer a number of the features currently available on Tumblr, while customizing that experience specifically for a mobile environment.

“I'm incredibly proud of our Android development today,” Karp said at the event. “I think that app is worlds beyond a lot of the stuff going on on that platform today, and I think its an incredible representation of Tumblr.”
Karp praised the Android version of the app in particular for its way of incorporating Tumblr's features without trying to cram every single one into a tiny mobile phone screen.

On the iPhone app in particular Karp said we'll see a lot of the things that have been working well on the Android version of the app, while incorporating in some new things that are very native to iOS.
Karp says the app currently has two of three ad spots built in that are ready to go into circulation but wasn't certain whether there would be ads in the app on launch day.
