Turkey: Assad turning Syria into 'bloodbath'

ANKARA, Turkey (AP) — Turkey's Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the continued attacks against civilians in Syria despite an agreement with the Arab League to halt the bloodshed.

The ministry said in a statement e-mailed early Thursday that President Bashar Assad's regime was turning the country into a "bloodbath."

It says the violence is in stark contrast to the spirit of the agreement and is raising doubts about Syria's "true intentions."

Two days of violence in Syria near the Turkish border have left more than 200 people dead.

The Ministry says no administration "can come out a winner from a struggle against its own people" and renews a call on Damascus to immediately end the violence and take steps "in line with the demands of the people."

if Assad agrees with the Arab protocol...he knows he has to quicken the demise of the opposition or he will soon go exile

Angry talk is just that. Turks may have to establish a security zone inside Syria, but options are very limited otherwise. Syrians will have to do the dirty work. Their country, their future.

Merry Christmas you Muslims who are practicing genocide against Christians around the world. May you and your abomination of a religion, Islam, continue to self-destruct around the world in the coming New Year.

Turkey also made the news today by severing military ties with France over France's recent passage of a law that criminalizes holocaust denying in France.
      • KwitchaLyinHasbara 5 mths ago
No it doesn't. Also why would France want a relationship with a country it's accusing of genocide that happened...almost a century ago??
      • Harrison J. Bounel 5 mths ago
You're right, guy who's name I can't hope to spell. Apparently the bill, now a French law, at issue was one that made it a crime to deny that mass killings of Armenians a hundred years ago by Turks was genocide. Poor fact checking on my part. Thank you.

Turkey seems to be fighting everyone at the moment. (Syria, France, Iraq, Israel, Greece, Armenia....) This is what you get when an islamist fanatics take over, no matter how moderate they want us to believe they are. Fighting and killing is in their blood.

Turkey must be denying their very own past and existence or otherwise Turkey is attempting to write their newverssion history. Has anyone actually took note of what France has decreed ?? IT IS A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY TO DENY THE ARMENIAN GENOCIDE DONE BY THE TURKS. ??? And has Mr' Erdogan not read the very recent history of the othoman empire that most of Europe had to pay tribute to the othoman empire by means of either gold or underage virgins ?

Modern Turkey has no relation to the Ottoman Empire politically. It was a new creation after WWI in the Turkish part of the Ottoman Empire.

So when has Turkey become so righteous? Don't forget Musa Dagh!
      • KwitchaLyinHasbara 5 mths ago
So when did you become so self-righteous? Was it any time before the last few years considering how long ago any pogroms happened in Turkey? Like, almost a century ago...and many governments since?

Is Turkey trying to jump start the Ottoman era, and who would take advice from these butchers, maybe they should concentrate on returning stolen Armenian territory as a gesture of international goodwill!
      • John 5 mths ago
        And Kurdish territory
      • greg 5 mths ago
Lol, there were no armenian or kurdish territory in history. They both were bunch of tribesmen.

Syrians want their freedom ... like the Iraqi's wanted their freedom from Sadam. But, 9 yrs. later the Iraqi's are terrorized by suicide bombers. Afghanistan is not far behind. Perhaps the same scenerio will be replayed in Syria.

Turkey's Foreign Ministry said in a statement emailed early Thursday that President Bashar Assad's regime was turning the country into a "bloodbath."
This statement shows Turkey's leadership by condemning the Bashar regime, removing this dictator masquerade and lies now when the Arab League is in Syria...

And if there's anybody who knows about bloodbaths it's Turkey. They do a great job.

Gee!! Turkey's about as bright as Canada, eh? It took them roughly the same amount of time to realize what Assad is doing as it did for Canada to discover that, what happens in Europe, will ACTUALLY affect things in Canada!!

The Turkish Foreign Minister is correct. But Assad will do nothing to halt the innocent blood being shed by Syrians who simply want their freedom from his murderous regime. So the question becomes what will Turkey and the United States do to forcibly stop Assad? We should be arming and equipping the Free Syrian Army at a minimum. But direct military action against the Assad regime should be on the table too. The lives and aspirations of the Syrian people deserve no less than that. Free Syria now!

Who cares? I don't. Let them bomb each other and kill. Did we do anything about North Korea? No. We need to stop the killing on our own streets.
