It would seem that shock has become the new norm in UK politics. Boris Johnson, a huge Brexit advocate and previously a leading contender for the Conservative Party's nomination for prime minister, has revealed that he will not be putting forth his name in the upcoming election, and the Twittersphere has exploded in response.

The photos and memes have been merciless.

The burns - brutal, and the trolls - terrible.

Celebs have plenty to add to the conversation, too.

In the current state of affairs in Britain, social media seems to provide an outlet for people to work out some of their feelings and frustrations. While we don't dig the political uncertainty, at least it's made for some pretty entertaining Twitter action!
