Twitter users and filmmakers, including Ron Howard, Robert Rodriguez and Adam Goldberg, shared their memories of the late director.

Film industry members who had worked with Scott shared memories of what it was like to work with the late director on set.

Scott's death also caused many Twitter users to reflect on the need to improve treatment for depression.

Onlookers saw Scott leave his Toyota Prius, inside of which he left contact information, before jumping from the bridge, the L.A. Times reports. A suicide note was later found in his office.

Scott is best known for directing 1986 action flick Top Gun and 1987's Beverly Hills Cop II.
