Two dead following crash, pickup truck fire in Holmes County Saturday morning

RIPLEY TOWNSHIP – Two Wayne County 18-year-olds died in a fiery pickup truck crash at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday at the state Routes 514 and 754 intersection in Holmes County.

Aaron James Casey of Shreve and Kody Adams of Wooster were pronounced dead at the scene according to a news release from the Wooster Post of the State Highway Patrol.

The crash involved one vehicle, a Dodge Ram 1500, which was heading northbound on Route 514 and went off the right side of the road, striking a ditch and culvert, according to the release, which notes the pickup became fully involved by flames as it came to rest at the intersection.

Casey was the drive, according to the release, and Adams a passenger. Neither was wearing a seatbelt, according to the patrol report.

The crash remains under investigation.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by West Holmes Fire and EMS, Clinton Township Fire and EMS, Bully Dawgs Towing and the Holmes County coroner.
