Tyra Banks Slashes Asking Price on Beverly Hills Home

SELLER: Tyra Banks
LOCATION: Beverly Hills, CA
PRICE: $6,900,000
SIZE: (approx.) 5,740 square feet, 4 bedrooms, 6.5 half bathrooms

YOUR MAMA’S NOTES: Though she only heaved it on the open market just over a month ago with an asking price of $7.75 million, smizing supermodel turned reality television tycoon Tyra Banks has gotten serious about selling her Beverly Hills home and slashed the asking price by more than 10% to $6.9 million. The ‘America’s Next Top Model’ creator, producer, and ring leader host purchased the 1926 Spanish Colonial in June 2004 for $3,085,000 and current listing details show the updated residence, emptied of the veteran cat walker’s personal belongings and filled with crate after crate of staged furnishings, offers four bedrooms and 6.5 bathrooms in an undisclosed amount of square footage that the L.A. County Tax Man pegs at 5,740.

The multi-level residence, which forms two sides of a walled and gated front courtyard with tile fountain, includes: an oval foyer with travertine tile floor and wrought iron railed staircase; a voluminous sunken living room with soaring exposed wood ceiling and a towering arched window flanked by vintage French doors; a dining room that opens through more vintage French doors to a sunny sun porch; a library that overlooks the living room; an eat-in kitchen with high-grade finishes and walk-in pantry; a custom fitted home office with built-in desk space for at least two assistants; a partially subterranean media lounge; and on the upper floor, an arts and crafts room with sink and built-in storage cabinetry. A couple of en suite guest/family bedrooms on the upper floor are joined by master bedroom with over-the-treetops city view, adjoining sitting room, bathroom with double sinks and built-in hair and make-up vanity, and a custom fitted walk-in closet that doubles as a safe room. In addition to the grassy entrance courtyard and a curtained loggia with outdoor fireplace, outdoor recreation and entertainment areas includes a tri-level terrace at the back of the house with an extensively and expensively outfitted outdoor kitchen on the uppermost level, a fire pit and built-in seating on the middle level, and a small swimming pool and sunbathing patio tucked down on the lowest level.

Miz Banks, who we’ve long heard through the celebrity real estate gossip grapevine has been casting about L.A.’s Platinum Triangle for a media mogul-worthy estate has long kept a residential foothold in Manhattan where earlier this year she sold a contemporary condo in SoHo for $4.025 million and continues to own a massive, multi-unit combination duplex in a luxury high-rise in Battery Park City that she acquired in early 2009 for a tetch more than $10.1 million and — much to the surprise of this property gossip — ever so briefly made available as a high-end rental earlier this year at an eye-popping fifty grand a month.
