NELLIS AIR FORCE BASE, Nev. (Reuters) - U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter said on Thursday the United States was watching events in Libya very carefully but had made no decision on expanding its role there. Carter, on a visit to Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada, said the focus was now on political change in Libya, where two warring administrations are expected to form a unity government. The Pentagon chief also said he was aware of reports that the Saudi government had offered to send ground troops to Syria and that he looks forward to discussing the offer with Saudi officials in Brussels next week. Carter said the Saudi government has indicated a willingness to do more in the fight against Islamic State. (Reporting by Andrea Shalal; Editing by Eric Beech)
