U.K. prime minister explains why he won’t quit BlackBerry
David Cameron just can’t quit you, BlackBerry. In its latest in a series of blog posts touting government officials who still rely on BlackBerry for mobile communications, BlackBerry highlights why U.K. prime minister David Cameron is still sticking with the company despite all the troubles it’s gone through over the past few years.
“Wherever I am in the world, I am always within a few feet of a BlackBerry and an ability to manage things should they need to be managed,” Camerson said in a report cited by BlackBerry. “And indeed as I have done on I think almost every holiday that I have enjoyed over the past few years, I am able to return instantly should that be necessary.”
Even as consumers have been dumping its handsets left and right, BlackBerry has been able to count on several high-level government officials who require the utmost security in their mobile communications. Among others, U.S. president Barack Obama and German chancellor Angela Merkel also still exclusively use BlackBerry handsets for official business so it looks like the company has the potential to carve out a small but potentially lucrative niche for itself as long as its reputation for mobile security remains intact.
