UK Set For Summer Scorcher With Hottest Day Of The Year Predicted Next Week

Summer has had a mixed start in Britain so far but next week sun-worshippers can look forward to the hottest day of the year so far.

While the rest of Europe reaches temperatures of nearly 38C, the UK won’t be far behind as its predicted that it will reach 30C on Tuesday.

And it won’t end there as the Met Office predicts that the rest of next week will be in the mid to late 20s.

The higher temperatures are predicted mainly in the south east of the country, while northern areas are predicted to have temperatures in the low 20s.

Leon Brown, chief meteorologist with the Weather Channel, said that the high temperatures are a result of the sweltering conditions across the rest of Europe, where temperatures are set to reach 44C.

He said: “There is real low pressure in Spain, some of Italy and southern France and that will bring a plume of heat to the south east of the UK.

"But that is only likely to last for the day on Tuesday, and then the rest of the week becomes cooler and fresher.

"It could come down nicely to the mid 20’s Centigrade after that.”

Those hoping to enjoy Wimbledon and Glastonbury this weekend are also in luck.

Leon added: "Wimbledon’s first week looks reasonably settled and Glastonbury also looks quite nice - there will be a little bit of rain on the Friday and the Sunday, but we will not have the muddy quagmires that there have been before.”

The good news doesn’t end there, either - a mini heatwave is also predicted at the end of July.
