Jews living near the German capital Berlin are being warned not to wear items of clothing that identify their religion as fears of Christian neo-Nazi attacks rise.
Sixty five years after the end of World War Two and the Holocaust, a leading rabbi in the state of Brandenburg is urging Jews not to wear yarmulkes (skullcaps), traditional long coats, hats or other 'identifying symbols'.

Unfortunately, most of the "Nationalist" parties in Europe have much more in common with the Nazi party, than anything else. Always remember that hundreds of thousands of Ukrainians deserted the Soviet Army and fought for the Germans during World War II. And that the Ukrainian people had the 2nd highest ration of turning over Jews to the Nazi's in all of Europe (only slightly ahead of the French).

I was born and raised among those people. They were raised that way by their parents. Nothing you can do. There are long term, deep rooted issues that go back to Zarist times, Bolshevik revolution, Ukranian soviet famine, etc. etc. etc. Most people here have no idea about any of those. Some hear some high level things and misinterpret them (Steve - 60 million) some just like venting....

The Germans during the 2nd World War would have been hard pressed to supply the camps with guards if it were not for the Ukrainians volunteering for the duty.

Just as the past century has been one of great achievements it has also been one of great horror. Certainly one of the greatest, if not the greatest of these horrors, was the attempt to wipe the Jewish people from the face of the earth. It was only after the Second World War, that the full devastation of the Holocaust was brought home to Jews and non-Jews alike. Unfortunately what was not recognized by many in the post-Victory euphoria was the seemingly admiration by some of the victors of elements of Christian Nazi Germany.

Hey, guys, I live in Odessa, Ukraine, and I can tell you this: the city of Odessa was and is still crowded with Jews for 217 years, and it does not bring any problems with it, as we have Arab Cultural Center one block from the major Synagogue, and we had NEVER had any conflicts or even hints of conflicts. Ukraine is a very peaceful country. A bunch of idiots that have caused the news does actually reflect the country's environment, don't you think? Ukraine is undergoing a very hard period right now and no one actually expects any good out of it, but still, people are very friendly and hospitable hero, as long as foreigners are behaving as tourists should anywhere in the world. We are one of those countries that suffered the most during WWII and thousands of Jews survived thanks to Ukrainians as they were hiding them in their homes. So, obviously, we cannot be the country that would hate Jews or any other race or religion. We have nazi, and let them all kill themselves before we get them!
