Ukrainian President Admits They've Lost Control of the East to Russia

One day after Ukraine's acting President Oleksander Turchynov conceded defeat in the East, the city of Donetsk appears to have totally succumbed to armed separatists. Turchynov admitted as much on Wednesday saying that “it is hard to accept but it’s the truth. The majority of law enforcers in the east are incapable of performing their duties."

The BBC is reporting that hundreds of men have swarmed the Donetsk prosecutor's office and are fending off riot police, in rather demeaning ways:

Russia still denies stirring unrest in east Ukraine, where pro-Russia separatists have been occupying government buildings in different cities for several weeks. Still, even before the unrest broke out in Donetsk today, Ukrainian officials said they will eject a Russian military attaché from the country for engaging in "intelligence activities."

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry hasn't yet named the individual, but said he was taken into custody on Wednesday and has been ordered to leave the country. The Ministry issued a statement on the incident, saying "the military-naval attaché of the embassy of the Russian Federation in Ukraine is declared persona non grata in connection with his actions, which are not in accordance with his diplomatic status."
