    Umenow, the new startup that has banned all tracking and all ads, announced today that it has changed its platform to allow anyone to join for free. Before today's announcement, free membership was limited to 30 days. Now, free membership has no time limit.

    Asked if the timing of the new announcement was a shout out to Facebook and Google, UmeNow founder Evelyn Castillo-Bach points to the growing public demand for real privacy and no tracking. "Some people are exhibitionists and don't care if everyone knows their business, and it doesn't bother them that every detail of their private lives becomes the property of companies spread throughout the world. Others use social networking to grow their business. We don't serve them. But a great number of people understand that the social networking giants make their billions by sharing the most intimate details of a person's life with advertisers, marketers, banks, insurance companies and thousand of other companies, and they don't like it. A huge number of people feel that the social networking giants cannot be trusted. People feel trapped into using the Goliaths of the internet because all their friends use it too. So by opening our doors to everyone, we make it possible for anyone who wants true privacy to find a home in us. I believe that UmeNow is revolutionizing how we connect online by banning all ads and all tracking. But we cannot spread this revolution by limiting how many people can join us for free. So we have opened our doors to everyone," said Castillo-Bach, the entrepreneur from South Florida that is also known as the Privacy Mom.

    UmeNow's 2-tier membership structure promises the same privacy protection to free members. Premium level members who subscribe for $6.00/ month have access to all site areas."

    UmeNow launched in July 2011. Evelyn Castillo-Bach is also the founder of Collegiate Nation --known as GoCNCN.com-- the first and only private network exclusively for college students. Both UmeNow and Collegiate Nation are known for fiercely protecting the privacy rights of its members. All ads, third party apps and games are banned because they are back doors to extracting private information. Evelyn Castillo-Bach earned her M.S. in 1993 from Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
