Underwater cameras capture mesmerizing video of dolphins, orcas and humpback whales

It’s been a great couple of days for underwater photographers, with some of the ocean’s most majestic creatures showing off for the camera from Hawaii to Norway.

Alex Rivest had the swim of a lifetime when he ran into a pod of dolphins off Hawaii’s Big Island. Fortunately, the neuroscientist/photographer had his underwater camera with him, so not only did he get to join the silvery clique on their jaunt in the Pacific but he was able to capture the magical encounter on video.

More than 10,000 miles away, off the coast of Norway, Berthold Hinrichs had a magical encounter of his own when he caught an orca and humpback whale dancing around one another in an attempt to catch some dinner. The dynamic between the two whales is fascinating to watch, as the orca attempts to knock a herring unconscious with its tail while the humpback floats by, ready to catch it.
