United flight diverted to Phoenix for strange odor

United flight from Houston to Los Angeles is diverted to Phoenix for odor in cabin, cockpit

PHOENIX (AP) -- Authorities say a United Airlines flight from Houston to Los Angeles has been diverted to Phoenix after a strange odor was reported on board.

Officials with the Federal Aviation Administration and Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport say the Boeing 757 landed without incident at about 2:45 p.m. Wednesday.

There's no immediate word on the cause of the odor, and a call to United wasn't immediately returned.

FAA and Sky Harbor officials didn't know how many people were about United Flight 468.

It's the second time in three days that a jetliner was diverted to Phoenix.

On Monday, a Southwest Airlines flight from Los Angeles to Austin, Texas, made an emergency landing at Sky Harbor after someone called in a bomb threat. The FBI says no explosives were found.
