    The Unstoppable Rise of AirBnB [INFOGRAPHIC]

    We make a lot of infographics here at Mashable, as you may have noticed; we also get a lot of infographics sent our way by eager companies. Some make the cut, some don't. But rarely are they delivered as confidently as AirBnB, who proudly unveiled what its team described as a "sick infographic" Thursday morning.

    And no wonder. Despite some PR setbacks in 2011, the company's growth seems unstoppable. It booked 4 million nights of accommodation in users' homes in 2011 -- that's four times the amount of business it had done in the previous four years.

    Most of this growth (75% of it) came from outside the U.S. -- from Europe, for the most part. London, Paris and Berlin are three of AirBnB's five biggest hotbeds of listing activity. All but two of AirBnB's nine offices (as of March) will be in Europe. The company may be headquartered in San Francisco, but its heart is increasingly European. (The country with the single greatest growth in listings: Italy.)

    Which, considering the economic trough the European continent is currently in, is no bad thing. AirBnB has built a site full of inspiring stories -- again, most of them from Europe -- featuring people who have quit their jobs, paid for their weddings and funded startups, all by renting a room on AirBnB.

    Now with an Android app and an improved mobile web experience, AirBnB seems set for a stellar 2012. So long as the site keeps pushing that image -- that AirBnB is a win-win for hosts and guests, and a lose-lose for hotels -- there's no reason to think it can't keep growing like this, and making ever more sick infographics about it.
