US Airways flight from Las Vegas to Charlotte diverts to Phoenix; fumes reported in cabin

PHOENIX - US Airways says one of its planes on a flight from Las Vegas to Charlotte, N.C., was diverted Monday morning to Phoenix after the crew reported fumes in the cabin.

Airline spokesman Bill McGlashen says mechanics are checking the plane and that there's no indication what caused the reported fumes.

According to McGlashen, paramedics tended to six crew members and one passenger after the Airbus A321 landed at Sky Harbor International Airport. He says he has no indication that anybody being hospitalized.

McGlashen says the airline is working to put the passengers on other flights so they can continue their journeys.

McGlashen says he doesn't know how many passengers were on the plane, but says the plane can carry 183 passengers plus a crew of six.
