Acting US labor secretary to lead talk on President Obama's proposal to raise minimum wage
CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) -- The acting secretary of labor is scheduled to visit Charlotte to discuss President Barack Obama's proposal to raise the minimum wage.
Acting Labor Secretary Seth Harris is slated to hold a round-table discussion Wednesday with low-wage workers and advocates about the proposal. The meeting will be held at First Baptist Church-West.
Obama has proposed raising the federal minimum wage to $9 an hour from $7.25.
Local workers will share their thoughts about how a minimum wage increase would benefit them and their families.
